الْـحَمْدُ لِلّٰهِ الَّذِي أَطْعَمَنَا وَسَقَانَا وَجَعَلَنَا مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِين
Transliteration:
Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi at’amana wa saqana wa ja‘alana minal-muslimeen
Translation:
All praise is for Allah who fed us, gave us drink, and made us Muslims.
Dua After Eating Explanation:
This dua expresses gratitude and humility after enjoying a meal. It reminds the believer that food, drink, and even the blessing of faith (Iman) are gifts from Allah alone. By reciting it, a Muslim not only thanks Allah for physical nourishment but also acknowledges the greatest favor, being among those guided to Islam.
It is a beautiful way to end every meal with shukr (thankfulness) and remembrance of Allah, transforming a daily act into a moment of worship and reflection.
Incident from Sunnah:
It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would often praise Allah after eating or drinking, saying this very dua.
“The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Whoever eats food and then says, ‘Alhamdu lillahil-ladhi at’amana wa saqana wa ja‘alana minal-muslimeen,’ his previous sins will be forgiven.”
(Musnad Ahmad, Hadith 23529)
This Hadith shows how simple acts of gratitude can lead to immense spiritual reward. The Prophet ﷺ encouraged Muslims to remember Allah after every blessing especially food, which sustains both body and faith.
