Allahumma inni laka sumtu wa bika aamantu wa ‘alayka tawakkaltu wa ‘ala rizqika-aftartu
Dua for Breaking Fast- Translation In English
O Allah! I fasted for You, I believe in You, I put my trust in You, and with Your provision, I break my fast.
This beautiful dua reflects the essence of fasting: devotion, faith, and gratitude. When a Muslim recites this at the time of iftar, it signifies completing an act of obedience purely for the sake of Allah. The believer acknowledges that the strength to fast and the food to break it are both blessings from Allah.

Incident from Sunnah
It is narrated that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ would hasten to break his fast as soon as the sun set and would do so with fresh dates, or if none were available, with dry dates or water.
“The Prophet ﷺ would break his fast with fresh dates before praying; if there were no fresh dates, then with dry dates; and if there were none, he would take a few sips of water.”
(Sunan Abu Dawood, Hadith 2356)
This Sunnah shows the Prophet’s simplicity and gratitude, emphasizing the importance of beginning iftar immediately and thanking Allah for even the smallest provision.
