In the name of Allah, and blessings and peace be upon the Messenger of Allah. O Allah! I ask You for Your bounty. O Allah! Protect me from the accursed devil.
Explanation of Dua While Leaving Masjid
When a believer exits the mosque, it’s a moment to transition from worship into the world, carrying the spiritual state outward. This dua upon leaving the mosque acknowledges:
- that our entry into the mosque was in the name of Allah and with the Prophet’s ﷺ blessings (the first part),
- our request for Allah’s bounty (faḍl) upon leaving,
- and our seeking of safe-protection from the whisperings of Shaytan.
Reciting this dua ensures that the spiritual energy built inside the masjid is safeguarded, and that the believer remains connected to Allah’s will while re-entering regular life.
Sunnah Reference for Dua When Leaving Masjid
It is recorded that the Prophet Muhammad ﷺ recited this supplication when leaving the mosque.
This underscores that not only the act of entering matters, but also the act of leaving, both times being moments of remembrance and submission to Allah.
