Allahumma akfini bihalalika ‘an haramika, wa aghnini bifadhlika ‘amman siwaka

O Allah! Suffice me with what You have made lawful so that I may not need what is unlawful, and make me independent of all others besides You through Your grace.

Dua for Rizq – Explanation:

This powerful dua is a humble request to Allah for pure and lawful sustenance (halal rizq) and independence from all forms of neediness. It reminds believers that true wealth is not in possessions but in contentment and reliance upon Allah (tawakkul).

Reciting this dua cultivates spiritual discipline and honesty in earning, encouraging Muslims to seek livelihood through ethical and blessed means. It protects one’s heart from greed and unlawful gain while fostering gratitude and trust in Allah’s provision.

Allah promises in the Qur’an:

“And whoever fears Allah, He will make for him a way out, and provide for him from where he does not expect.”
(Surah At-Talaq, 65:2–3)

Incident from Sunnah:

The Prophet Muhammad ﷺ frequently made supplications for sustenance and sufficiency, showing that even the best of creation depended wholly on Allah.

He once prayed:

“O Allah, make the provision of Muhammad’s family just enough to sustain them.”
(Sahih al-Bukhari, Hadith 6460)

This Hadith teaches that contentment (qana’ah) and moderation are the truest forms of wealth. A believer’s goal is not endless accumulation, but blessings (barakah) in what Allah provides.
